My friend and I were recently visiting Seattle for the first time. The Washington State Ferries were recommended to us as a cheap way (~$8) to see the skyline from the water. We took the ferry to Bainbridge Island in the late afternoon. It's a...More

The ticketing office was quick, and courteous. I took the Bainbridge Is, and Bremerton ferry on separate days. Its an excellent way to view the Seattle skyline. Excellent service. Value for money.

We stayed on Bainbridge so really no choice. We found the process easy and hassle free. Take the short time to relax, see the city skyline and take a load off your feet.

Ferry was inexpensive and took 35 minutes. Facilities were good and the boat had comfortable seating. We stayed on Bainbridge Island for a couple of hours so just enough time for a wander up the Main Street and a coffee.

We went three times— twice to Bainbridge Island. About 35 minutes. On a clear day you see the mountains going each way. And the Seattle skyline is impressive. My only recommendation is to sit in the front for the best view.

The Washington State Ferries, both the short and the longer crossings offer a beautiful view of the sea, and if you are lucky you may spot a bobbing sea creature or two. They are a convenient mode of transportation that is totally enjoyable.

We took a ferry (which is very comfortable, with options to sit inside or outside, and a nice cafeteria for the hungry travellers) to Bainbridge island late afternoon, had a nice walk around the island, and took the ferry back during sunset - totally magical...More

Decided to take a ferry to Bainbridge Island. The ferry itself was so impressive (big and stable). The view is unbeatable. The walk to downtown Winslow was ok. The town of Winslow was ok. My favoriate part was the ferry ride and the view. You...More

We took a total of 4 ferries driving around the greater Seattle area and the San Juan Islands. Loved traveling by ferry.

On long weekends the Washington State ferries have extra long lines so plan to wait. A lot of city people escape to weekend houses and hikes.

for a half-day or less, we'd say Bainbridge, good balance between ferry ride and on-island things to do. The "Seattle view" is the same for both Bainbridge and Bremerton.
