HD Zoo is a fantastic facility - one of the best zoos we have visited (and we have a zookeeper in the family!). Offering impressive zoo exhibits, the HDZ also boasts an aquarium, splash park, carousel ride and a soon-to-be completed children's play area. Definitely...More

My family of 4 paid $100 to go the zoo and Imax theater. We got there at 2:00 and we specifically asked how late the zoo and exhibits were open. We were told 7:30 p.m. That is NOT true. We spent 2 hours in one...More

Trip to Omaha has to include the Henry Doorly Zoo. Go early and be prepared to spend the day if you want to see it all. The exhibits were top notch.

As is obvious from reading other reviews on here, this is a most impressive zoo. Definitely keep the reciprocal admission in mind if you are a member at another zoo. This is a zoo that strives for the best habitats for an animal in captivity....More

Are you allowed to bring in outside food and beverages? I noticed on the map some picnic areas so we would love to enjoy a picnic lunch in the zoo! Or at the very least, is there a picnic area outside the entrance and allowed re-entry to enjoy a picnic lunch?

Yes, you can. We went during Passover and of course had to bring in our own food and it was no problem.

My family and I are going to visit the zoo at the end of May and I was looking on the zoo's website to get more information on attractions and other tidbits - it says that the train is closed for the season. Any insight on this? Thanks!
