This was a great visit we spent a good 4 hours and enjoyed every minute. Note the bathrooms downstairs has paper towels if you have little ones who don’t like blow dryers. The main level had lots of animal information that really appealed to my...More

This museum is dedicated to our 16th President's life. From his boyhood in Kentucky to his last day as President. It is a wonderful place to bring children as well as for any age to visit. There is so much to learn, and much that...More

Not a lot to say, feels like a small town museum without much funding. $5 entry fee is about right for a small museum without a lot of exhibits.

There is an entrance fee for people ( like $5), but children were free and over 65 are free. It is great for kids. Get a free parking pass from the Springfield Visitors Center so you won't need to pay around the museum.

Nearly everything in the main museum focuses on they way Illinois might have looked several million years ago. If you're a believer in young earth creationism, this might not be the place for you. There is a fun kids' area in the basement with some...More

I was not comfortable visiting this museum. I went to see some of the rock/fossil exhibitions and was followed the entire time by a male employee. I had to leave due to feeling very uncomfortable!!

We saw this museum after visiting the Lincoln Museum & Library so in comparison it is very much old school in its presentation...no high tech. Still the exhibits were spot-on in Illinois early development and history and contained all the information I was looking for.
