Because it was January and a foot of snow on the ground, I was the only tourist to go inside. It was amazing and so much history. I wish I could have taken picture, they were not allowed. Some of the rooms in the Mansion were under construction so I was not able to see them, that was disappointing. They... More

We rode with the Governor down old Rt66 he had about 300 of his closest biker friends over for a BBQ. The food was great, had a band there that was out standing. ( Out standing in the street ) The Governor closed the street for the afternoon, and we had a great time. toured the gardens, and went into... More

The mansion is the third longest residence of a governor in the United States. The house was constructed between 1853-55 and has been lived in since. The house is currently undergoing major works and it is much needed repairs. Once the restoration is complete it will be a much better historic house and museum.

We missed the tour, so we walked the entire perimeter of the property. Beautiful grounds. The outer appeareance of the Mansion looks Beautiful. We understand that renevation are occuring to the interiro. They do two tours a day. Try to catch one. Wish we would have had the time to wait around.

The Executive Mansion is beautiful, but does need a lot of work. The floors squeak too. The grounds are absolutely beautiful and are the only areas that photography is allowed, which is different from several other Executive Mansions that we have visited, such as KY and VA. Still, it is worth a visit.

We stopped for a quick visit and discovered that the public can only get in on certain days/times. We were disappointed, but we did get some good pics through the gates. The mansion covers a full city block and we walked all the way around to get different views. Have to stop by on those tour days--Tue/Th/Sat, but don't recall... More

What a hideous shame that the corrupt government of Illinois allows the filthy rich Governor to live in Chicago while our tax dollars go into a run down shell of this beautiful mansion!!!!!!

There is so much history on display! From the dishes in the formal dining area, to the unique "what-nots" with so much symbolism. Truely a great experience, great meeting the Governor.
