One of Wright's larger homes, built for one of Springfield's early bigshots. Well preserved with many original Wright-designed furniture pieces. Don't miss the surprises in the basement. Nearby Decatur has a few Wrights as well, but hard to find.

Delightful tour. Most Frank Lloyd Wright homes don't have the original furnishing. In this case original owner tried to sell them, but was unsuccessful so they are still there! there are many levels/stairs @ this place. you are not to touch any of the furnishings nor can you sit on them. We were there on a dark cloudy day. Would... More

This house is extremely interesting for its architectural beauty and the furniture/decorations which were also designed by Frank Lloyd Wright. The tour which takes about an hour is very informative. Suggested donations are $10 for adults and $15 for the family. The total cost apparently was about $60,000 in 1904 money (Frank Lloyd got 10% commission) and must be priceless... More

You do not need to be a big fan of architecture to enjoy this beautiful building. It is lovely and peaceful and a perfect place to spend an hour. I bring guests here and never get tired of seeing it. It is like walking through a gorgeous painting. the guides are friendly and know the history of the place and... More

A wonderful example of Wright's Prairie Style architecture in downtown Springfield. The docents are well-informed and provide lesser known facts about the home and its owner Susan Lawrence Dana. Adding to the experience is that much of the original furniture is still in the home. Be sure to stop in the well-stocked gift shop after the tour. A beautiful place... More

If you are a fan of Frank Lloyd Wright, history, or are an "architecture junkie", this is a place you will not want to miss. Even my wife, who is none of the above and thought this would be a "ho hum" tour came away saying "that was really interesting!" The home itself is amazing (hard to believe it is... More

Have to say what a great tour guide. The house itself is not only beautiful it is so typical arts and crafts. The furniture the decor is simply magnificent. The only downside to the whole experience, Due to budget cuts in Illinois ( shame on you politicians) the windows could have done with a thorough cleaning. Does this detract from... More

We did not get to tour this house inside (our bad timing) but walking around the outside is amazing.

An early example of Wright's Prairie House style, faithfully preserved with furnishings and fixtures intact.
