I was looking for a place to see some live music while visiting Boston. I came across The Middle East. I checked out the reviews. I was pleased with what I saw. A quick trip across the bridge and we were there. We had a nice and reasonably priced dinner. Then it was onto the Upstairs for our concert. It... More

I go there from time to time to see some nice underground artists. I went on a Monday night and it was LIVE! Never been to the restaurant but I hear its cool.

We had a wonderful meal prior to going to a concert to see Chicago based bands in the Upstairs Room. The service is very good. They are cheerful, attentive, knowledgeable, quick. The food was very tasty. Our table had baba ghanoush, humus, chicken skewers, salad, lamb skewers, veggie burgers, and chicken and waffles. All smiles after. Well seasoned, yet subtle.... More

The food is pretty much authentic Middle Eastern, possibly with a leaning toward Lebanese. There are also ME influences on dishes that you could believe were derived from the French during the colonial period; the duck dish in particular; it was very good. Nice selection of beers (although only one Lebanese beer): domestic, imported and craft. Service was prompt and... More

Place was somewhat busy, walked in I was told pick any table, had to wait a good 5 minutes before anyone can ask if I wanted something, ordered the lamshank over green beans n rice pilaf, rice was cold so was the green beans, the lamb shank was luke warm, meanwhile the band was setting up for the club part,... Enjoyed seeing some bands at Middle East Upstairs. A proper little gig venue, the likes of which are a dying breed. Support your local music to keep it alive.

Went to witness the legend of a venue - the food wasn't at all bad, friendly staff. In our case we made a terrible choice with the band that was on but even though the music didn't inspire the sound system was epic!

This restaurant is run by a very warm family. I took advantage of the twiddling warm days and sat outside (also a great spot to watch fireworks and the many parades in Cambridgeport) I ordered the lamb kebobs and a green salad along with a glass of the house wine, a simple but satisfying dinner.

A fixture in the local Boston music scene. Always have a great time seeing nationally touring acts, catching up with friends at the bar, and noshing on tasty falafels and cheeseburgers after said drinks have kicked in... Generally the sound ends up a bit better in the more intimate upstairs vs. the larger downstairs rooms. Either way it's a pretty... More
