The MIT Museum presents temporary and permanent exhibitions at the nexus of art, science, and technology, as well as events, programs, and weekend demonstrations. People from around the world come to visit and learn about holograms, kinetic art, artificial intelligence and original research that has shaped the world. FebFest and the Cambridge Science Festival fill winter and spring school vacation weeks, while the very fun "Friday After Thanksgiving" chain reaction event is held nearby at an MIT gymnasium, while produced by the Museum. The MIT Museum also has a physical and online science-themed store, and the galleries are available for small functions. Located in the Central Square Cultural District the MIT Museum is surrounded by unique restaurants, theaters, music venues and a renowned local ice cream store. Look for our yellow chairs!

This place is not huge but certainly got enough for you to spend an hour and half wondering around. It is eye opening to see the MIT students were developing robots in the early 80s!

A great museum for those that admiring engineering and art. It is not a big museum (2-2.5hours), but it has impressive collections. The gift shop sells unique items, it hard to leave without buying anything.

This is a small museum, plan for a short ~2 hours visit. But it holds interesting Science-related attractions, many of them are interactive. It's worth a visit. Kids will love it.

This is an incredible museum if you have any interest in technology, robotics, or kinetic art (my favorite exhibit). There is something here for the whole family, even hands-on exhibits and experiences for kids. Some exhibits are a bit dusty/dated, although that’s part of its...More

We were very disappointed all around. For the price it is unimpressive and we found the staff inefficient and rude. The woman selling us entrance tickets took forever and needed constant help. Upstairs the staff was snappy and grumpy. The exhibits were limited. I would...More

We liked the variety of exhibits. If I hadn’t asked, the guy who admitted us wouldn’t have even mentioned the VR experience, which was $10 extra, but well worth it.

I teach 9th grade physical science/earth science and geometry. This museum is geared for younger students. The hands on activities were fun but again 6th graders would be a more appropriate audience.
