About
The underground village is a section of the Punic necropolis of Sulky, the ancient Phoenician-Punic name of Sant'Antioco. Starting from the eighteenth century, with the repopulation of the island of Sant'Antioco, numerous Punic tombs were used as dwellings (is gruttas) by the poorest classes of the country (is gruttaius).

Very interesting experience indeed. Our 8 and 10 year old girls were very enthusiastic. Emanuele the Village and Museum Guide with a very simple language managed to capture their attention and curiosity. Even the colleague of the necropolis really very prepared. If you are on holiday on the island I recommend it to all families.... you will spend two pleasant hours and you will come out with so much more riches!

The underground village tells a very particular cross-section of the history of Sant'Antioco, truly unique.
I don't remember the name of the girl who accompanied us, but I was struck by the great delicacy with which she approached the visit, talking about the families who lived in those environments until very recently.
I believe that the role of the guide here was fundamental in creating the right climate of respect towards these underground places. Personally it was a moving visit.

very interesting and exceptional value, Incredible to think people actually lived in these 'rooms' in the late 20th century

Interesting visit of ideal duration with teenagers. However, the guide only spoke Italian and made no effort to speak even a word in English or French. We received a small explanatory booklet while she gave countless explanations in Italian (all in full sun). Conclusion: visit to do for only €4 per person.

These ancient tombs were lived in up to the 1960s by those too poor to own a house. Tours are run from the Ethnographical museum next door. The place is interesting hence the 4/5, but the tours are only in Italian so much remains a mystery.

These are simple caves used as dwellings by poor people up to 100 years ago. We were shown around by a guide who attempted to describe some features in English but the information available was limited. Still worth a visit combined the fort and Museo Etnografico

A nice dive into the post-Nuragic history of the island, the guides were fantastic, the presentation of the story was clear and concise, a limitless kindness even under the scorching sun of over 30 great. Visiting King.

Included in the cumulative ticket with necropolis, acropolis, ethnographic museum very interesting visit.
For a ticket you only 10 euros we had 3 guides who followed one another accompanying and explaining to me the truly particular, human, fascinating and involved history of this site. Absolutely recommended to understand the island that hosts us.

A cross-section of a part of the ancient local society, which has almost reached the present day, expertly illustrated by the guide.
