A very neat little, quick historic spot. You learn a lot about Poe. It does require a lot of reading as it's not a guided tour.

I seriously loved this place. The location is in Richmond's oldest house in a really great part of town and is made of beautiful old stones (my favorite). The museum boasts a great collection of things belonging to Poe and his family as well as a great history which provides background into this quirky iconic writer. I also loved that... More

The museum is pretty interesting especially if you love Poe. The parking may be a challenge but the building itself is awesome - its very old. I don't recommend going if it looks crowded, some of the areas are quite small. Not the best place for very small children. We went when they were having a free admission weekend and... More

This historic gem is located in the oldest house still standing in Richmond. It holds artifacts that belonged to and were written by Poe. There is no photography allowed in the exhibit areas. There is a small fee for admission. I believe there is no photography allowed in these areas because then you have to go and see them personally,... More

This is a good stop for anyone with literary leanings, or scary movie leanings, or historic leanings, or, or, or.....the staff are great, the curator does the free tours himself and is entertaining, great historical notes and funny and interesting things about Poe.....the garden, the theft of his bust, the black cats who live there, etc.....all around an interesting hour......highly... Nice little museum (if you like Poe). Grandkids (ages 8,10, 14 and 18) loved it. Small but interesting. Lots of interesting history about Poe along with many artifacts. Easy to get to, basically just off rt 64 in Richmond. Great value at just $5.00 each. Near a nice pub restaurant were we had lunch (prices very reasonable).

We stopped in, just because we were there, and thoroughly enjoyed our visit. I never knew much about Edgar Allan Poe.

I've always loved Edgar Allen Poe so I was really excited for this! The self guided tour was a lot smaller than I was originally expecting but it had a lot of great historical artifacts and information in it. There are a couple different buildings on the property and each one portrays a different time of his life. It's a... More

After learning much of Poe and his history in school, it was fun to experience this quaint museum set in the oldest house in Richmond. The relics are plenty! The history is so detailed! This was the only stop we made in Richmond and worth it!
