Gardens are always of interest for us, and our jaunt to Richmond had to include the Lewis Ginter site. The space is laid out with both formal and informal beds, with a conservatory for the tropicals (and butterflies!). A generous portion of the gardens is designed for children, a part of the public too many horticultural sites ignore. During our... More

We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to the garden, and it was well worth the admission. The grounds are large and beautiful. We were there with a toddler and the paths were great for strollers...and he (and we) LOVED the children's garden! It was a fantastic place for him to explore and walk around. We also really enjoyed the Japanese garden.... More

The flowers were colorful and healthy on this sunny morning in Richmond, Virginia. Orchids, pansies, tulips, palms, and especially butterflies were lovely. Plan to visit this well-maintained garden that always pleases the eye! This is a gem in the middle of a red brick neighborhood.

Want to REALLY experience Spring? Go to Ginter and get ready to see and experience Spring. Among the many rooms of color, the blooming Bougenvilla in the Conservatory may have been the plant of the day, but the garden room of the day was the tulip garden leading to that Conservatory.

One of our favorite gardens. Butterflies were released yesterday. Tulips and azaleas in bloom. What a wonderful outing for our family on Easter day. We recommend this garden any time of year.

As a visitor to Richmond this was my third visit to the Ginter Gardens. I have come twice for the Holidays during the Illumination Celebrations. This was my first early Spring visit. What a simply beautiful place! Multitudes of daffodils and other flowers paint the landscape. Walking paths weave around the gardens. It is definitely a family friendly environment. The... More

A wonderful peaceful place to gather your thoughts and enjoy a stroll among the various gardens. From the Asian Garden through the rose garden to the Orchid Room in the Conservatory which is my favorite :-). Or stroll around the various ponds and wooded paths. Something always in bloom.
