Maymont is a 100-acre American estate, an extraordinary gift given to the community by James and Sallie Dooley who lived there from 1893 to 1925. Whether strolling in the gardens, touring the mansion, watching river otters at play, or petting a goat, there is something for everyone to enjoy. NEW! Golf cart tours are now available. Explore the rolling hills and winding path with ease with a personal tour guide!

Don't believe this is the best place for little kids, but for school age, they MIGHT like it, maybe if you combine it with saying its an art project and they have to draw what they saw as the most pretty or interesting thing?

I went to Maymont with a friend to look around and discover what seemed to be an amazing new place. If you would like to have that happen for you, do not go to the mansion. Extremely rude and unfriendly volunteers that treated us like...More

Great place to take children or grandchildren, on a Sunday evening. Lots of nice trails to walk, but watch out for snakes. My great grand daughter was almost bitten by a copperhead last summer. It was reported, but know one seemed to care. It was...More

We visit Maymont often. The waterfall and Japanese gardens are our favorites. Kids play for hours in the waterfall area. Bring swimsuits and shoes with grip. Enjoy picnic in the Japanese gardens. Always a great day!

They have already started decorating the inside of the Dooley mansion for Christmas. Don't know if they light up the house or the gardens, but the staff was very helpful, so you could probably just call them and ask.
