Have attended a variety of events at the theater and each experience gets better. Going to a movie with a family of 7 can be exhausting but listening to all the exciting comments from others in attendance makes going to this venue extra special. Everyone is always in awe of the decor and old furnishings. Movies are $1.99 and seems... More

If you don't mind seeing great movies a couple of months after their release and right before they are released on DVD, the Byrd is your movie theater of choice. If you love vintage architecture, you will be delighted with this historic venue. At $2.00 a ticket, makes for a great value, plus, if you go on a Saturday evening,... More

Get ready for a nostalgic experience. This is a gorgeous theatre that is very old, but well maintained. Come prepared to pay in cash...that's right...no credit cards. Also don't expect to prepay online...you will enjoy waiting in line to get a colored raffle ticket that is collected at the door. I am told that the greeter at the door often... More

1.99 for a movie, and the soda, popcorn, and snacks are very cost efficient. The building is very old and historical. Beautiful design and copper ceilings, gorgeous stages and settings. Only complaint would be the uncomfortable seating. But that is to be expected when running a theater that is as old as this one is. My only highly preferred and... More

Absolutely incredible! Beautiful historic theater and beautifully restored. Seats were a little tight but that's only because I'm fat lol. Absolutely recommend this place to anyone traveling in Richmond.

So much history here and for $2 a movie you can't beat it. The seats aren't the most comfortable things you'll ever sit in but its all part of the experience really. Go on a Saturday night to check out the Wurlitzer Organ. If you're in Richmond you MUST go here!

Im a Florida resident, I was brought tonite to byrd theater which is beautiful and impressive.  Everything was perfect except I felt harrassed and discriminated by one of your employees. First Im disable and I can sit for prolonged period of times. That being said, my wife and I stepped out for a walk waiting for the movie to dinish... More

Enjoyed a showing of "Joy" (Jennifer Lawrence) this past weekend at the Byrd. This majestic movie palace is undergoing a slow renovation that will be absolutely stunning when eventually completed. The movies are $1.99 and the snacks are all at 1970's prices. It's a bit musty and the seats are in bad shape (scheduled to be replaced in 2017) but... More

I saw Bridge of spies with Tom Hanks and heard the famous Wurlitzer Organ which is played on Saturday nights. Great 2nd run movies for $1.99! Beautiful old theater. Only drawback is the uncomfortable seats.

IF you have NEVER been inside the BYRD, you have missed a very special part of Richmond history. This place reminds me of theatres in Moscow when we saw the ballet there........we went to see the movie (many are $1.99) what a deal!! the Martian was playing BUT the real show starts 15 min early when the guy on the...
