It is more a place to wander outside now than a hatchery. The grounds would be great to have a wedding - totally beautiful. We enjoyed our picnic lunch here.

First of, it's a very nice and relaxing place. The building is beautiful, the pond with the fish and ducks is entertaining and the tour inside the hatchery is very well presented. Second, the story is very inspirational. A small community has been protecting California...More

We enjoyed seeing the trout ponds at Mt. Whitney Fish Hatchery. We have visited a few times. It began in 1915.

I love old buildings and this one is very unique. Unfortunately, it was closed until April. We did get to walk around and feed the ducks and (two) fish. It was a nice little stop and a good place for a picnic.

We stopped here about 10 years ago and only recently returned for a visit. We were very impressed. We didn't know that the hatchery had suffered extensive damage back in 2007 and 2008 due to fires and mudslides and was subsequently rebuilt but the "new"...More

We spent around an hour here, letting the kids feed the fish and enjoying the scenery. We watched lots of rabbits running around and got a good look at some marmots hanging around the rock walls. I would have loved to have seen inside the...More
