This is a wonderful historic cemetery with beautiful architecture, sculptures, and large oak trees. It's a very quiet and peaceful place even though it's 5 blocks from downtown Atlanta. It was founded in 1850. Some of the brick walkways are uneven with broken bricks so be sure to watch where you are walking. Be sure to pick up a self... More

Its a nice place to walk around. Clean, well organised with lot of history around. I recommend to download the Cemetery's official mobile application, which provides you a lot of information, and highlights the main POIs as well. My favorite is the Confederate Obelisk (#62) with the Confederate Memorial Grounds.

I've never seen a cemetery this nice or detailed. Fast and Furious 7 was recently filmed here. Wish we got to spend more time here as there is a lot of history in this cemetery as well as the people buried here.

I love to take out-of-town guests to this place. There are Civil War graves, a Jewish section and we enjoy walking among the old oak trees and imagining what life would have been like through the years. The grave stone markers are beautiful and it is interesting to read what is written on them.

This is a historic cemetery and its very well maintained and clean. Its impossible to miss and serves as a landmark and oddly, also a tourist destination.

This is a nice setting for a walk and to view history. The setting is a high point that was used by Southern troops to view the advancing Union Army. There is a grand area of Confederate graves and a smaller (and less grand area) for Union troops. The rest of the cemetery includes the elite of Atlanta, including former... More

I only found out that there is a visitors' centre on my way out as nothing is signed. I also got lost in there and the only way out I could find was the way I had got in.

My cousins hosted their beautiful wedding in the cemetary. It was an incredibly serene, peaceful, gorgeous setting. Spring in Atlanta is over the top and Oakland is one of the best places to experience it.
