This was well worth the time to learn about the history of this cemetery and the role it played in the evolution of both Georgia's and the southern region's history! Our tour guides, Lauren and Sarah were extremely knowledgeable and provided us with entertaining information.

Be sure to take a tour to learn the interesting stories of Atlanta history, but be prepared to walk up/downhill and on sometimes not so smooth paths. There are so many interesting monuments and landscaping and good places just to stop and enjoy a quiet...More

I love the Oakland Cemetery. The cemetery is kept very nice, has a visitor's center, and tons of beautiful flowers growing throughout. It also has a variety of graves and even some famous people are buried here. One of my favorite (and free) places to...More

You need several hours to wander through this Victorian park like cemetery. The Iris were in bloom and signs proudly let you know what flower is in bloom. The mausoleums are master works of Victorian crypts. Margaret Mitchell is buried there as well as 16...More

We only had an hour to spend here but that was enough to make us want to come back for a longer stay. We were able to see Bobby Jones' grave, Margaret Mitchell's, Maynard Jackson's, the CSA soldiers area and a brief visit to the...More

This is my first time visiting the cemetery and I must say I was a little bit nervous. Tourist and the Dead don't exactly mix, but this place is so well kept and welcoming. The flowers were marvelous and the headstones were awe-inspiring! I would...More

I actually found the grounds to be very uneven so I recommend sneakers, but if you stay on just the paved areas, then sandals.
