Dominating the skyline of Salobreña is the Castillo. It’s a steep walk up to the entrance, which is not that clearly marked, however persevere and you’ll find it eventually. Cost, at time of writing, 4 Euro per adult. It’s very sparse and some notice boards...More

Went to the old town on first day of our holiday in salobrena for an evening meal. My best advice would be do not drive, park and walk as the roads were so narrow and very steep and it was pretty hairy at times and...More

Bit of a hike to get up here but well worth it. Great views of surroundings and informative info boards about the castle itself.

A rather step climb up to the Castle through fairly narrow streets will reward you with very lovely views of the surrounding area. Entrance is charged at €4 unless you are over 65, in a group of 12+ or young for which they charge €2.

It was a bit of a labyrinth getting up through the Casco Antigua but that was part of the beauty; climbing through the white washed houses. I would advise on taking Google maps with you to avoid getting lost as there’s virtually no parking and...More

Got there at 3:30pm to find that the opening hours are 10:00 to 13:30, 16:00 to 17:30 so had to pop back down for a coffee. Went back after 4pm and paid €4 for the under 65s and €2 for the 65 and overs (apparently...More

Cheap to enter and a good view. Some archaeological excavations. There is a walking path round the outside of the castle too. The old hill top town just below the castle has some good bars. At night you can see bats and geckos.

There isn't a ton to do here other than read the placards of its history but it's worth the 8 euros for the views in every direction. I recommend it for anyone's first visit.
