A rather step climb up to the Castle through fairly narrow streets will reward you with very lovely views of the surrounding area. Entrance is charged at €4 unless you are over 65, in a group of 12+ or young for which they charge €2.

It was a bit of a labyrinth getting up through the Casco Antigua but that was part of the beauty; climbing through the white washed houses. I would advise on taking Google maps with you to avoid getting lost as there’s virtually no parking and...More

This magnificent Moorish fortress, built circa 7-800AD, has stunning and commanding views over Salobrena and the Sierra Nevada mountains.

Got there at 3:30pm to find that the opening hours are 10:00 to 13:30, 16:00 to 17:30 so had to pop back down for a coffee. Went back after 4pm and paid €4 for the under 65s and €2 for the 65 and overs (apparently...More

Cheap to enter and a good view. Some archaeological excavations. There is a walking path round the outside of the castle too. The old hill top town just below the castle has some good bars. At night you can see bats and geckos.

There isn't a ton to do here other than read the placards of its history but it's worth the 8 euros for the views in every direction. I recommend it for anyone's first visit.

Fun little trip up to the castle worth the view and history. Careful, if driving, not only are the streets narrow, the parking is limited.

As you'd expect the castle is at the highest point around, so be prepared for the hike. The castle has been renovated a lot so to be honest with my eye it's difficult to distinguish between the original and the new. I guess that could...More

The Castle at Salobrena is worth a visit, the views are good on a clear day (it was sadly very cloudy when we went) but in reality that's about it. It is a nicely preserved Arabic castle - the walkways are good and there are...More

Visited on 1 September. Nice Arabic castle. 4€ entrance, not a huge amount to see inside, old Arabic baths in the centre, but lovely views across the coast and inland. Lovely walk up the the entrance, lovely little square with bar to rest your weary...More
