Sadly Spruce Tree was closed while I visited, but there were incredible views of the dwellings and many photo opportunities without having to climb down to the exact location. We were told there had been falling rocks and it was unsafe to proceed. I hope...More

It was a busy holiday weekend, so tours were hard to get for other houses. Don't count on being able to visit Spruce Tree House as it is closed indefinitely because of unstable rocks. You ca see it fro museum overlook and on the trail....More

The cliff is precariously unstable so you can only view from afar but you are still able to see quite a bit.

The cliff wall above the dwelling is unstable, so you no longer can go in. But you can look at it, and have one of the rangers standing there tell you about the dwelling. Have them tell you about the efforts to stabilize the cliff...More

Due to safety and preservation, you can not go down into it. But the view from the Ranger Station is the closest you will get to a cliff house without climbing down into one. A great photo opportunity.

If you havent much time on Mesa Verde go to this area as you have great views of STH two minuets from the car park , there is also a museum next to the car park.. all can be done quite quickly
