There are some interesting pieces from Galician artists I had never heard.or seen before. There is also a collection of Roman antiquities. The museum is inside a former convent that was expanded a couple of times. The layout of the artwork, exhibits and general flow of the displays is delightful. There is tile work , architecture (typical period Galician kitchen)... More

This compact and excellent museum is definitely worth a visit. Apart from the building itself, centred around a stunning medieval cloister, the exhibits offer a glimpse of Galician life of bygone days. For instance, an old kitchen with its tools, various pieces of furniture as well as 17th century clocks. One glitch. Most of the information, labels and description are... More

You can see tools since prehistory until modern pictures. There are many local pieces of our history. It's a beautiful space to have a nice time with your family and friends.

In this museum everyone would find something to see. It's not really small, but neither big, so you can see everything and keep concentrated and enjoy your visit.

Whilst the original Roman walls are the main attraction when visiting Lugo you must not miss the Provincial Museum - it's outstanding. It's much bigger than we expected, allow 3 hours. There is a spectacular collection of pre Roman gold ornaments upstairs. When we were there [September] it closed for the afternoon but was then open until 8pm.

Absolutely stunning place with so many varied exhibits. The gold room was particularly spectacular, as were the mosaics. I would set aside a whole morning to meander round this magnificent place.

An excellent provincial museum with a broad-based set of collections, housed in an interesting building: half church and cloisters, half purpose-built gallery. The highlight for me was the room full of Celtic gold ornaments: earings, torcs, broaches ... and a superbly-detailed ram. You'll want to take it home (but don't try: it's well guarded by polite - but big -... More
