When visiting Frederick, we nearly always take a short stroll along the canal, as it is interesting even in the winter. However, in warmer weather, the water plants, ducks, koi-half-breeds and canal-side plantings are a great draw, and several restaurants feature canal-side outdoor dining.

Enjoyed walking around the canal, seeing the birds, and checking out the shops that line it. The art work and the different styles of bridges are worth walking the length of the park.

When we have out of town guests we always take them down to Frederick to walk along the canal there. It was created to stop the flooding from the Monocacy River which is nearby and used to devastate the city with water every few years. It was a brilliant idea to create a way to stop the flooding but to... More

The transformation of the creek over the years has been amazing. Many volunteers have worked tirelessly to make this area clean and beautiful. Look for the unexpected little pops of art on the walls where the bridge is. There's a selection of restaurants along the creek, and it's not been extended to go even farther, and includes some very "Vegas-like"... More

We love walking along the creek. It is so peaceful in the evening.. and so lively during the day. A beautiful addition to Frederick

This is definitely the jewel of Frederick. The canal is beautiful to walk alongside of and plenty of shops on both sides. The bridges are beautiful (some of them) and plenty of picture spots. Also there are places with big open space for your children to run around and have fun.

I don't think the hoped for end result of this project has met the "if you build it they will come" expectations. The water hasn't flowed like it should (sometimes it can be a little smelly with dead fish floating in it), some stores couldn't survive (Five Guys closed up), and commercial and residential growth hasn't popped up like it... We love this little area so we decided to visit at Christmas. WHAT A LET DOWN! I thought for sure they would've decorated it beautifully with lights - but no! Just a few lights here or these, but mostly the entire area was dark. The downtown community should be ashamed with themselves for missing out on making this a seasonal... More

The city has done a great job in making a very attractive park along the creek. Flowers, attractive pedestrian bridges, and shops/restaurants along the way. Very close to the visitor's center which validates three hours free parking in a nearby deck.
