Went to the Toy Museum (Museo del Juguete). Denia was the center for toy making in early 20th century after their raisin crop was destroyed by blight. German merchants brought in machinery to make metal trains starting in 1904. In the 20’s turned to wooden toys. Located in former train station. Active through the 1960’s. On Carrer Calderon. Great displays with all types of toys. Show photos about people associated with the toy industry and shots from the factory floor showing equipment used to manufacture and assemble their products. The only downside to this museum is that nothing is available in English. The museum is free.

Interesting exhibits, down memory lane. Some works being carried our so limited viewing, but worth a visit.

On a rainy February day we found this little toy museum just the place to while away an hour. Entrance is free and all notices are in Spanish - but the exhibits require little explanation. Apparently Denia had over 40 toy manufacturers within the town at the turn of the century.

We tried it with our 3 Kids and it was a good suprise.

In a world where money is the key word, especially for toys, this visit is very interesting.

Our kids (4/6/8) appreciated to see old toys and that many "new" toys of today already existed on other forms 😉

It was a short moment (15/20mn) but as its'free and in the center, you won't waste your time.

Info : majority of the toys are from 50's / 60's.

This museum is free; otherwise, without any children with me, I might not have visited because of all the things available to do in Denia. I was pleasantly surprised. It's a total delight viewing all the toys across the ages. I overheard a father explaining to his sons that once upon a time all the toys were made of wood. The museum does, however, have some toy cars etc of metal. The range of toys, from dolls, toy houses and kitchens, to pedal cars and replicas of war ships is to be commended. I grinned when I saw USA influence creeping in, with Mickey and Minnie Mouse.

The lower floor had a display of artwork (paintings). Upstairs is a display of local toys from as far back as early in the last century.

Although not Very large, it more looks like à big vitrine, which will make adults long for their childhood and children for real toys instead of computergames. Definitely good for a lazy afternoon.
