Nice location, great views definitely worth a visit

If you are in the area then it is definitely worth a visit to this castle, the tickets are only three euros each and the views are spectacular over the bay and the town.
However there are almost no information plaques anywhere around the castle to tell you about the history, what happened or any other useful information

Castle in Denia a must when in the area
Sep 2021 • Family
Beautiful castle over Denia , interesting history and amazing views. Half way up you even find a small coffee shop ( and toilets) to take a break. Shaded walks so even ok on sunny days.

Great place for a weekend break.
Choice of hotels and restaurants very good , as is the climate.
Would recommend Daniya hotel.
Good price and although rooms a bit dated was spotlessly clean and excellent staff and service.
Will def be back again

Cafeteria terrible service and owner
Aug 2020 • Couples
The cafe owner was extremely rude, I was never treated like this in my life. The cafe was supposed to open at 5pm, they arrived at 5.30pm and still shouted at us. Then she asked us (a group of 7 people) to all sit at the same table because she didn't want to be bothered to clean more than one table after we left. Continued to shout at us and when we complained that she opened late she said that the place was hers she can do whatever she wants.
To be honest, I didn't mind paying for the entrance fee because I wanted to see the castle and have a nice cold drink up top. That didn't happen. Will never return and would completely advise against giving any money to that cafe.

Nice views

There are great views from the castle over the surrounding coastline. With the exception of the exterior walls and entrance, most of the castle is ruins. There is not much to keep kids interested.

Definitely worth a visit
Dec 2019
We went early for a walk around the castle.. before it got busy..the entrance fee was something small like 3 euros, we would have willingly paid more to help with the upkeep of the castle. Although there was work going on, the views from there looking over Denia are amazing, the castle itself really interesting, it was peaceful, pretty, and the cats that live there are so cute.. lots of them, and nice to see that somebody is feeding them. I would imagine in summer it would be very hot up there, so go early. In December it was still a nice temperature, no coats needed. Worth it for the views.

Ignore the negative reviews. Worth the climb

We visited from Alicante the train journey from Benidorm to Calpe was picturesque. You are then ushered onto a luxury coach to complete your journey to Dénia.
The Castle is well worth the climb. It is good to see it is unspoilt. We spent half a day here with our young children. If you use your manners and a little Spanish the staff are very helpful. There are no signs in English but you can work out what's happening. After all we are in Spain. We were impressed to find the café open on a quiet day in January.

Denia Castle & Museum
Dec 2019
Great place to visit with panoramic views across the city and of the Montgo. There's a little cafe near the museum with super views. Went in December when it was hot (by UK standards) and sunny. The museum isn't open all day long and isn't huge, but very interesting nonetheless. Very photogenic!
