We really enjoyed this tour but what really made us mad was we paid for this event and before the tour ended several people had just walked up and joined and started tasting the chocolate and they did not pay or have tickets for the event. There were so many people there before the tour ended that we thought we... More

We did the tour 2 weeks ago and it was guided by an intern which in general is not a bad thing, however, their was little actually shown. she was pointing on machines that were behind a glass window and explained what they would be used for but none of teh machines was working at that time so it was... Hi Tina, I am really sorry that you didn't find our tour interesting. We have overwhelmingly positive responses to our tours. We will work harder to have more consistently great tours. If you are still in Ecuador and have a chance to go to the tour again, we would love to have a second chance at getting your attention. Contact... More

I discoverd this wonderful restaurant just last December (2016) and I keep enjoying my meals and drinks every time I visit Mindo. I love desserts and El Quetzal is good at chocolate brownies, cookies, and icecream. Their unique cocoa juice is very tasty. It is made out of the sweet pulp that grows around the fresh cocoa bean. My kids... More

My tour guide suggested going to the chocolate factory while in Mindo. El Quetzal is a quaint chocolate factory off the beaten path in Mindo. Here, I joined a Norwegian/Italian group taking the tour of the place. So much cacao and macadamia enveloped the fields around the establishment. The tour was led by Gabriel, a multilingual knowledgeable chocolatier. We learned... More

We showed up around 3, and they said there was a tour beginning right then so we were able to get in on that tour. It was $10/person and well worth it. Our guide Sergio was funny and very informative. We not only got to see cacao plants but also avocados, pineapples, and many other plants growing in their garden.... More

It was very interactive. We learned a lot. Our kids loved it. Jorge was a great guy and super nice. Bought a bunch as souvenirs for family back home.

We had lunch and went on the factory tour here with our 10 yr old son. Jorge was our guide and spoke English very well and was quite personable. We had a great time seeing the cocoa fruit on the tree, tasting the beans, and of course, the final product (in several forms)! I would recommend this to anyone who... More

I had such a good time learning all about how chocolate is grown, made processed. The fresh cacao fruit was so yummy! It's also really amazing how the owners work with the farmers directly to produce such delicious chocolate. The Chocolate Tour was my FAVORITE thing I did while in Ecuador.

Our guide ( can't remember his name ) was fantastic. His knowledge and explanation of the processes were great. Seeing how all the chocolate is made and tasting it was cool.

This was a real opportunity to understand the whole process of making chocolate. We were taken round a small plantation close the shop/ cafe - everything was so well explained - all aspects & stages. Of course the hi-light was the sampling at the end. this is a great tour & I recommend it to you We also visit the... More
