This place offers great canopy views of the cloud forest and several rivers. The birds and flora are very unique and the hiking trails were well-kept and easy to navigate.

I arrived alone in the afternoon and inquired if there was time to walk around or best to return tomorrow. I also asked if I could be directed to the walking path to Nambillo and come back the next day for the Tarabita and other waterfalls walk. I was shown on the map the route and encouraged to take the... More

Lots to see, like humming birds and gorgeous flora. Experiencing the environment the best--so spiritual and grounding/enlightening at the same time. Remarkable to see how much symbiosis there is: trees that support miss that support bromeliads that nourish birds--all coexisting. Just a restful, grounding, calmly energizing place.

We stayed at the BioHostel which frankly was difficult to find in such a little town at night when we arrived by rental car. Locals weren't much help in locating it. We felt silly once we got our bearings - right down the road from the Quezal Restaurant and Chocolate Tour. We spent one day taking the Tarabita to hike... More

Loved this part of Ecuador. Our driver took us up this small dirt road to where we caught a yellow cable car over the forest canopy to the start of the waterfall trails. The cable car ride alone is worth the trip. The cloud forest is absolutely beautiful and the waterfalls were great for a refreshing dip after all the... More

Highly recommend visiting Mindo, even staying a few nights in this tranquil town. There are several nature hikes to visit waterfalls, river tubing, a butterfly garden where you can also observe beautiful toucans and hummingbirds, as well as zip lining. The zip lining was a lot of fun and provides for beautiful views. Restaurant at the butterfly garden is slightly... More

The driver need not look at anything but the road. The drop off the side of the road is rather unforgiving. Great vistas. Not suggested for night driving.

If you're into waterfalls and have never been to a rainforest before, then you're likely to enjoy this place. Make sure to take hiking poles, as the paths are quite steep, muddy and slippery. We have been to plenty of rainforests and waterfalls for free, so thought the $5 entrance fee was expensive, especially given the tram was not working.
