We stopped there while on a bus tour. I was surprised to see large Antelope Island in the middle of this section of the lake. The lake was not appealing, since it was dirty. The most interesting thing about the visit was the smoke stack...More

Made a drive out to the Great Salt Lake and had to walk quite a ways to reach the water. Worth it just to taste and feel the saltiness.

Great Salt Lake is few miles away from salt lake airport. You need to pay entry fee but without any one on site. The lake is so peaceful and quiet. I love the stillness of the lake but it's smelly. We couldn't figure out why....More

Wow! The Great Salt Lake! It is miles of open space to explore. Very scenic with mountains in the background and bright white salt in the foreground. Bring sunglasses/hats, water, and supplies because there is only one gas station/conveince store on either side and miles...More

It's just a big flat area in the center of a plateau with no outward drainage. It's a landmark, but not much of a destination.

Stinky. Birds enjoy it. The lake is shallow and goes on for miles. It was hazy when we were there. Less salt concentration than the Dead Sea.

I took a tour from Downtown to the great Salt Lake. It only took a couple of hours but well worth the visit. The history was explained on route and we even got to paddle in the lake. Highly recommended.

I would go to Antelope island, 20 min drive and ask the park office for the best seasonal spot
