I had a few hours to kill and this museum was close by. Wow! If you are into military history, it is well worth it. The location at old Fort Douglas is easy to find and fairly well marked. Parking was right outside the front...More

We got to the museum as a field trip was there. Lots and lots of kids. However that did not take away from our visit. The place has plans to expand in the future. A nice museum at a great price.

The museum was housed in a renovated building and was nicely layout over several rooms. The displays are well maintained and clearly labeled. There is also an outdoor area where some field guns, helicopters and vehicles/tanks are on display. However, we struggled to occupy ourselves...More

The relationship of the early Mormon settlers and the Federal Government was difficult and the military had a significant role. This museum covers this and also covers subsequent military roles that Utah citizen soldiers themselves played in U.S. history. There are some interesting artifacts from...More

I took my 10 year old grandson to the museum one afternoon last month before school started. We both really enjoyed the museum. It is very well organized and easy to follow the history of the fort and the military experience in the West. It...More

Ft. Douglas today is but a fraction of the sprawling western military reservation of decades past. Once used as an outpost to monitor the early Mormons, it is now an Army Reserve Center that hosts several Army Reserve units. The museum sits on the north...More

We went to Fort Douglas Military Museum on Memorial Day Weekend. Although they were moving, there was still many good exhibits on the war effort. The tanks, planes, cannons, cars, and military trucks that we saw outside was also good. There is also a memorial...More

No problem finding parking on the street outside. We had a bit more problem finding the museum, as they had moved most of it next door! No signs. The exhibits are military in nature, and have a material Viet Nam inclusion. Uniforms, firearms, swords, picture...More

You can also stay right next to Fort Douglas at the University Guest House. I have stayed there once and it's a great small hotel.

The exact date is to be determined but we are planning for everything to be complete by June 20, 2015 (Fort Douglas Day). We are open during the renovations, giving a peak into how a museum comes together.
