Discover the amazing underwater world of the Texas State Aquarium!...

Discover the amazing underwater world of the Texas State Aquarium! Thousands of animals representing over 320 different species are ready to enchant, entertain, and inspire you. Corpus Christi's most popular cultural attraction has welcomed over 12 million visitors since its grand opening in July 1990. Conveniently located on North Beach, the Texas State Aquarium is just minutes from Corpus Christi's downtown district, convention center complex, and museums. The Texas State Aquarium Association is a not-for-profit, educational institution that does not receive any city, state, or federal funding for its operations. Every visit to the Texas State Aquarium is a new and exciting discovery of animals that remind us all of our responsibility to those whose world we share. The Aquarium's Second Chances Wildlife Rehabilitation Program is federally permitted and operates under rigorous standards established by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA). Each year, thousands of protected, endangered or threatened species along the Texas coast become ill or injured. Most are brought to our facility with problems caused directly or indirectly by humans. The goal of the Texas State Aquarium's Second Chances Program is to rehabilitate, and whenever possible, return the animals to their natural environment. The Aquarium is an accredited member of the Association of Zoos and Aquariums and is a member of the World Association of Zoos and Aquariums. The Aquarium's mission is to engage people with animals, inspire appreciation for our seas, and support wildlife conservation.

I am not sure why they say this is the biggest aquarium...or I am missing something but it was still fun to walk around and see the sea life. Lots of sharks, fish etc. and a whole area for kids to play in water and tables to eat some lunch. Lots of parking and be sure if you hit the... More

Not at all impressed! Highly overpriced! No shuttle service for bad weather from parking area. First impression when you walked in the lobby was the smell! Exhibits were not good. No information about the fish in the tanks on most except the names. The ones that had some info flashed by so quickly there was no time to read it.... More

This aquarium was so neat. Loved touching all the stingrays outdoors as well as the sandsharks. All the staff are very friendly and very knowledgeable about the animals there. Go and feed the stingrays it's truly an amazing experience. Aside from some construction on the building (they are adding on to it), this place was the best part of our... More

This was a birthday present for our granddaughter as she loves sharks. The Shark exhibit was impressive but unfortunately we could not interact with them today due to mating season. I wish the times of the different shows had been posted as I believe we missed them all. Can't wait for the new addition to open in 2017!

I've been to many aquariums and was a little ashamed I've never been to this one, but I finally did last year. Tickets were a little pricey, but we had a coupon to help out with that. (Google is your friend.) The exhibits inside were decent, but the habitats outside were the best (otters, turtles, etc.) The dolphins were beautiful,... More

A fun day trip to the aquarium, was rainy off and on but had a wonderful time here. The Aquarium is undergoing a renovation and expansion so there will be even more to see in the next year and I am excited. They have the basic flora and fauna around the outside, but what caught my eye was the Birds... More

I've been to many aquariums over the years, in many different countries, and this one is by far the best we've been to. I remember going here as a child, 8 years old, and it was even better taking my 5 year old daughter here. The changes they've made over the years have increased the equity and makes for a... More

We decided to visit the aquarium because Sandfest was just too hot this year. The aquarium is nice and informative, but overpriced. We sat through three of the show/exhibits...the otters, the birds, and the dolphins. The dolphins were a disappointment because they didn't do much; however, it was explained that they had received two new dolphins and were trying to... More
