I visited the Crater site several years ago with my son and his friend and didn't see much else of the park. I didn't realize what an important part this battlefield played in the war. Enjoyed our visit. It's a beautiful site.

One of the major reasons for this trek thru virginia. The battlefield is awesome and solemn. The crater has filled in a bit over 150 years but maybe there will be restoration to the look of 1865.

This national Park is well done with the sequence of events leading to the Battle of the Crater which we only had a minimal idea about. The park employees were very knowledgeable and gave us some great tidbits about the war and the artillery. Driving...More

I came here while being stationed at Fort Lee. The exhibits are organized and very easy to understand. I really enjoyed talking with Maggs, the ranger. She really understands the importance of logistics and geography and even told me all about Hopewell, the next historical...More

You should give yourself at least 4 to 5 hours to be able to get a good view through the park. I would try to be out of the park by 5 pm.
