Thayer street is a great place to check out. The have so many interesting stores and shops. The people you meet there can be very interesting too. There are a lot of restaurants and cafes, and also many clothing shops, and eccentric boutiques selling anything and everything you could imagine. It is great place to go on a warm, sunny... More

Thayer St is a mix of chains like CVS, Starbucks, Chipotle and Urban Outfitters, a Post office, hair salon/barbershop and a few stores with character. There are also restaurants and bars, as well as the Brown bookstore. Some fast food burrito, pizza, and bagel shops provide good snack options. The CVS has no pharmacy - no way to get prescriptions, which... More

I've been to some university towns, and Thayer Street makes Providence different than many others. It's located in the heart of East Side of Providence, along the intersection of Brown University campus and residential districts. It offers variety of shops, boutiques, restaurants, cafes and a beautiful movie theater. It is lively until late hours. A rarity among most of towns... More

You don't have to be a college student to enjoy Thayer Street. The Brown bookstore is always fun to browse, but there are lots of stores to check out. Both fast food and sit down bars and restaurants abound. You want it, you can find it on Thayer Street!

This is by far one of the best places in Providence to find cute little food stores among other things. It's in a very safe and pretty location so you don't have to be afraid to be walking out here. It's really close to Brown's campus so there are a lot of college kids, but it's worth it for all... More

Lots of shops and eating places. Variety of shopping from Army Surplus to upscale. Great places for souvenir shopping. We were here during the day and I was with my husband and felt very safe.College area vibe.

Thayer is the main commercial street running alongside Brown University. It used to be (in the 1970s) much more interesting, but now it's just a bunch of cheap restaurants and a few uninteresting shops.

All the food and basic shopping a Brown student could ever need. There are about twenty restaurants packed into four blocks along with the Brown bookstore.

Thayer Street offers a number of restaurants and stores and is convenient walking distance to Brown University. There are a few unique shops as well as the Brown University Book Store and the Avon Theater. There are also a number of restaurants and a small CVS (no pharmacy). Expect to pay for parking as the City of Providence recently installed... More
