In Lubec, take a few moments to stop by this memorial. Small, but well maintained. Honors and puts in perspective how peaceful but dangerous way of life in the area.

We parked near here to go to dinner and afterwards stopped to check this out. It's a well laid out little memorial park. Reading the names, many of whom were of the same family was a sobering experience, even though I did not know any of them. Time for a moment's reflection.

This is a very simple and somber memorial to Washington County, ME and Charlotte County, New Brunswick fishermen who lost their lives in those waters or other waters. It's located in a beautiful setting.

For over 20 years my husband and I have been vacationing in Newfoundland, Canada and have seen many memorials to fisherman who have lost their lives to the sea. Since the pandemic we decided to vacation closer to home but wanted to be immersed in the fishing culture here. We were happy to see the Lost Fisherman's Memorial in Lubec. The memorial was created by Jesse Salisbury of Maine granite to honor and remember those men in the fishing industry off the waters of Washington County, Maine and Charlotte County, New Brunswick who lost their lives. The sculpture takes the shape of waves overlapping and lists the names of those lost from 1900 to the present (over 102 lost at sea). We read the names and I noticed two at the end of the list had the same last name--brothers? father and son? What a tragedy for the families. The memorial is in a beautiful setting overlooking the waters where lives were lost. A peaceful place to contemplate and reflect. The memorial was built in part with a lot of small donations. Thank you for remembering.

A touching memorial to visit. Very peaceful here. It's free and we saw seals in the water here. Highly recommend.

Not a whole lot to see, but an interesting memorial to the many men who, over the years, have lost their lives fishing to provide food for the rest of us.

A good piece of art and a powerful reminder of those who work at occupations that are filled with risk

Decided to check out this memorial since I was in lubec. It's a very nice memorial and it kind of gets you sentimental knowing that all these people died doing their job as fishermen. The spot is very peaceful. and you're looking right over at New Brunswick Canada. I stayed for about 20 minutes to enjoy the views.

A very nice memorial to all those that risk their lives to feed us. Lubec is a great place to get fresh fish and enjoy a small village. We were so sad that we couldn't get into Canada.

This is a beautiful memorial in a small park in downtown. It is right across the water from the international park. The views are great and we watched seals playing in the water for a good bit. It is a moving memorial as to the dangers our countries fishermen face every day. To see the names on it of people’s family and loved ones that didn’t make it home is very moving.
