This stop doesn't take long (30 minutes) but it is worth the quick stop to learn the local history of the waterfront. The husband and wife team were very knowledgeable.

Very interesting, sad for the town to have this huge workplace closed. The gentleman that gave us the tour was very knowledgeable. It had employed so many of the locals from Lubec and surrounding towns. It seemed to be hard work also and could be...More

We found this place 15 minutes after their closing time but the host was kind enough to not only let us tour the facility but gave an interesting presentation on the history of herring smoking Downeast.

It was such a neat experience to see what Lubec used to be! We loved this little tour! The museum still smelled of smoke from back i the day!

We were very impressed by the expertise of the staff. She was very friendly, taking us on a tour of the museum, and engaging in great discussion with my friends and I. The museum is a wealth of history.

Here in Lubec, ME, the easternmost town in the USA, sits the last sardine smokehouse in the USA! This is a modest preservation, but most informative! (I sadly admit having walked past it countless times over the past 5+ years, but this time a friend...More

My family visited this museum in August of 2015 and we found it interesting and educational. There was a film about the history of the smokehouse and Lubec followed by a narrated tour by a museum guide who was very personable and informative. There were...More
