A bully good historic attraction, not to be missed: the home of Theodore Roosevelt from 1902 to 1906, considered the "Summer White House," a beautiful 23-room Victorian mansion estate that also includes a 37-acre National Environmental Study Area of forest, tidal salt marsh and bay beach.

Amazing to see all of this great artifacts of one of America's great presidents in one place. The park service has done an amazing job in preserving his home and story The adjacent museum and walk to Oyster Bay is a must!

Teddy Roosevelt is one of my favorite presidents and one of the top historical figures that I wish I could meet. On a recent trip to Long Island, my wife and I got to visit Sagamore Hill. In addition to taking a tour of the...More

We've been to all of the Presidential Libraries except Gerald Ford's, and other presidential sites, but Sagamore Hill has been my favorite of all. Partly it is because TR was such a character. I loved his house full of big game trophies - a cape...More

GREAT place to visit and I enjoyed every moment of it. After sitting on the veranda and looking over the views, I can understand the love the family had for this home. I took a tour of the home and the guide was excellent and...More

I drove to arrive in time for the 1st tour at 10 a.m. You can, however, call and reserve a tour time. That is always a good idea and usually fewer people. I believe there were 12 of us total and an excellent park guide,...More

This is a great place to visit if you are looking for something free for the family. If you want to actually enter the family home, you need to buy tickets, though. When we went, it was roughly a 2.5 hour wait until the next...More

Purchased tickets in advance as required. Tours are to be 14 people or less. Because the tour guide did not check tickets, an additional 7 people joined the tour. The house is small as it is, and having such a large group prevented us from...More

I've been twice before and was delighted to see that Sagamore Hill reopened after a major renovation. Visiting the home is by guided tour only; if it's a busy time, you might consider calling ahead to make reservations. We were there on a weekday and...More

Beautifully maintained historical landmark on huge property. Go on a nice sunny day and enjoy the property. It's in Oyster Bay Cove. Can you find it on the chart below? Be sure to take the tour of the main house. It's a time capsule. A...More

In reading about Sagamore Hill on their website I've noticed that tours of the house are only provided from Memorial Day through Labor Day; ostensibly the house is closed from the day after Labor Day until Memorial Day. From what I gather, the grounds are open year-round, but not the house. Can anyone verify my comments? Has anyone actually visited the home during October? I've tried calling the facility several times, but have only gotten a busy signal.

First try to make reservations through the NPS to assure you can get in without an inordinate wait. Allow about 2 hours for house and museum
