The Center for Creative Photography is located at the University of Arizona, in Tucson. There is a small gallery with displays that rotate several times per year. The Center has a large collection, of which only a small portion is on display at any one time. There is an area in which to review numerous photography books, and also to... More

The University is the repository for the entire Ansel Adams negative collection. Given their collection, it would seem there is an opportunity here for a world-class museum/exhibition. One that could be a real draw.....

I had been meaning to come here for quite some time as I live so close to the U of A. It's always closed on Sundays. Free and open to the public. T-F 9-4 and Sat 1-4pm. I particularly liked the pull out archive drawers of Ansel Adams. There were letters included from Arizona Highways magazine as they used some... More

This museum/gallery is small but of very high quality worth the trip when combined with the universities art museum across the street. Use the covered university parking garage about a city block away.

I was in town and decided to drive 1/2 hour each way to check out the CCP. Nice works displayed by Ansel Strange and some others. Some History of the acquisition of Ansel' work is given as other interesting tid bits.

Being photography buffs and former members of NY ICP, the Center has been on our bucket list for a loooong time. We were able to see a nice exhibit "The Lives Of Pictures: Forty Years Of Collecting At The Center For Creative Photography." (What - no Edward Weston print???) I just wish the public could PAY to see some of... More

Only about 40 of the 90,000 photos in the collection are on display. Be sure to see the items in the pull out draws. Nice interesting selection, with good side wall write ups, but there is lost opportunity for so much more. Photos are rotated about three times per year. Photo art is a point in time, with much of... When visiting the art museum or the other local attractions this museum should be a stop. Plan on about 1 hour maximum, and plan on being presented with a new exhibit each time you visit. The photo art is varied and can be 'surprising' to some, 'overbearing' to others, 'interesting' or 'funny', as you see the world through the eyes... More

First rate photography museum on the University of Arizona campus. They have most (or all?) of the Ansel Adams photographs. There is also a small theatre there with events.
