Built for the 1968 HemisFair in honor of the city's 250th anniversary, this delightful park is a local favorite, particularly the water gardens and the kid-designed wood and sand playground, which includes a castle and space tunnel. The highlight is the looming 750-foot tall Tower of the Americas, offering a terrific view of the city.

We were there just as they opened and the movie we wanted to see didn't start for another hour. Since the staff knew we only had a limited amount of time and we were the only ones there, they played the movie we wanted first. Very friendly and accommodating staff. Parking was an issue due to road construction, but the... More

This is a beautiful park adjacent to downtown San Antonio. Conveniently located between La Villita Historic Arts District and the Tower of the Americas, this urban park has a lot to offer. Recent improvements have made the park better than ever. Great play areas and fountains for the kids, vendors, and shady resting areas. Hemisfair Park is also the site... More

The renovated park is fabulous! There are climbing sets with soft rubber matting under them. There are water features. There is artwork, a swing set and a playhouse. There are indoor restrooms and outdoor changing booths. There are ping-pong tables, too. They are bringing in vendors who have paletas, pizza and others. They also have a park activity director who... More

While in San Antonio on our mini vacation we needed to find a place to let the kids run and play. After searching online I found HemisFair Park and it was wonderful! There was some construction going on in the area, but it's wasn't a big problem. The children's playground was great for my kids to play on. My favorite... More

Awesome park where I’m sure you could spend a couple of hours with the kids. Unfortunately the day we were there, there was a school group, and so it was too crowded to enjoy. Also, the construction going on right now (November 2016) makes travelling between Hemisfair Park and Tower of the Americas a little cumbersome.

This was my first time here and it was a real surprise. We walked through here on the way to the Tower and spent a lot more time than we planned. The place is not only beautiful, it is peaceful and the water cascades, etc. are really well done. There are plenty of park benches and place to simply rest... More

I went to this park while attending a conference in the nearby convention center. It provides a nice place to get away from everything - with many fountains and places to sit. The Tower of the Americas is in the center if you want something to eat or go up to the top to see the area. A nice place... More

Great views of the city from high atop the tower. Plenty of interesting reading on historical events in the city. Beautiful park connects you to the tower and the Institute of Texas Culture. Close to the river walk. Drive in, walk in, or come in the bus but be sure you visit this while in San Antonio.

We had a terrible time getting around the construction. What parts were there seemed fun, checkers chess splash pad sand box and part of the kids park. The path was nice looking. Once they fix it seems it will be great.

It's a bit tedious to get from west side of park to Tower of the Americas right now due to extensive construction blocking most of the pathways in Hemisfair Park. However, the children's playground right off S. Alamo is complete and well worth a visit. There are unusual slides, climbing areas, a splash park & very large sandpit. The playground... More
