McNay was surprisingly the best art museum I have ever been to. The curators are very informative. I was in breathing distance of Renior's, Van Gogh's, etc. The property is breathtaking.

We visit art museums wherever we go. This one ranks very very high. Beautiful collection of Modern Art. The paintings seemed to be in especially pristine condition which is noteworthy because that is not always so. The architecture and story of the property are particularly interesting. Gotta go!

Wonderful art gallery. Beautiful grounds where picnicking is allowed.. Great history. Watch movie. Read up on it before you go to get the colorful story of the occupants. Nice exhibitions that are not overwhelming. Good parking.

I showed up early so I walked the grounds exploring all the sculptures, landscape, and architecture. This would have been enough, but inside I found so many beautiful pieces of art that this was one of this trip's highlights. My little notebook is filled with a number pieces that I will go home to research more about them so as... More

The best Art museum in San Antonio is the McNay Built by an art collector in her own mansion, the museum is a work of art in itself. The grounds are wonderful and the works of art inside are priceless. I'd say it's in the top 20 museums in America and should be part of any visit. Handicap accessible (call... More

This was the first Modern Art Museum in Texas, opening in 1954. Set on beautiful grounds with fountains and sculpture all around, the museum is a delight for young and old. It kept our 10 /8 year old grandsons interested for over two hours and they got free admission. Besides an excellent modern art exhibition from impressionists thru Picasso and... More

The tile work, painted coffered ceilings, fountains, sculptures, courtyards, landscaping add to the experience. There is a short movie about the benefactor and an interesting exhibit about stagecraft for the opera. All the staff are very pleasant and knowledgeable.

Don't miss this estate/mansion converted into a museum. It has an outstanding collection along with visiting exhibitions. Loved the sculpture and how it was hung. Also an excellent guided tour of the art on your cell phone. A courtyard in the center could be in any palazzo in Europe complete with fountain, garden and irons benches, And don't miss the... More

Fine collection of modern and impressionist art. The story of Marion McNay was worth watching in the second floor orientation gallery. Enjoyed Rodin's scupltures of Burghers of Calais in the glass walled display room.
