Small Museum with Interesting Facts

We love this small museum. Very informational on the whales and really make you want to adopt the orcas. Recommended for families too.

Loved learning more about the whales that inhabit the Puget Sound. It was also nice to support this organization.

I heard (from locals) many people get lost finding this place, so: Get off the ferry. Go up Spring Street (the main drag.) Go to 1st Street & take a right. It's 2 blocks up the hill on the right. A huge whale mural adorns the building. Check the hours before you go. Winter hours are short. Inside, find skeletons,... More

We had plans to go thru the museum. They decided to close early and would not allow us to tour. I was really looking forward to showing my son the museum since I had not been there in 28 years. I talked about the museum the entire ferry ride from Seattle to Friday Harbor. I tried talking to the gentleman... More

Great museum! Lots of bones and features with descriptions galore (almost too many). Lots of information on the local pods of Orcas including a family tree that was really cool! Cool little gift shop with lots of goodies. Interesting videos playing about Orca safety and health that are PBS quality informational shows. There is even a human brain in there... More

Thoroughly enjoyed the displays and educational film. Loved the display of the local killer whale pods and the information about them there.

I love the Whale Museum. This was my second visit, consecutively, in November. And as expected, there were things I didn't remember or may have skimmed over my first time through. The building is brimming with everything San Juan Island, Puget Sound, and of course, the whales! It's fun for the whole family--there are videos, sound bites of the whale... More

It doesn't take all afternoon or cost all that much, but if you are interested in whales and whale watching information, this is an excellent place to begin. Good gift shop.

When it rains in Friday Harbor spend the money ($5) to visit the local whale museum. There is so much information about the local whales and other sea animals you could spend hours here but probably most visits will be between 1-2 hours. The exhibits are on the second floor but there is an electric chair lift for those unable... More

You wouldn't want to visit Friday Harbor without experiencing the whale museum! Especially watch the short videos they offer! Super!
