We planned on a quick stop by the State Park to look at the grounds, but quickly got sucked in to all the park has to offer. We took a quick trail around the park, got to see the cute little lighthouse, the whale watching areas, and the very well preserved lime kiln.

Lovely Quite place to watch the Ocean and some Orcas. Orca Sighting is based on the Tide currents. If Currents are slow you will be seeing lot of Orcas. There is place where you can step down and get your feet wet.

Beautiful location, nice walking paths along the beach. The lighthouse was intriguing, but closed when we were there. Even without the whales in town, the 'water-life' was interesting and constantly changing.

Wonderful spot to stop and enjoy the beauty of the Island. The open views make it nice to try and spot sea life.

We were here in September and the leaves were changing, so it was a really pretty drive to get there. The weather was chilly, but not too cold and the sun and drizzly rain took turns while we hiked along the shoreline path for a couple of hours. The scenery is beautiful, the paths clearly marked, the kiln and lighthouse... More

You should pack a picnic and head out to this park to watch for whales and explore the lighthouse. There are good trails that are easy to navigate.

I was here in October and saw 2 different groups of orcas, a pair of bald eagles and seals. The Orcas were beautiful and came close enough to the viewpoint to hear them breathe. It was worth the long wait in cold weather to see them.

Lime Kiln State Park is another small gem on San Juan Island and the one place where you can often see the local Orcas without disturbing them by being in a boat....

We came here as part of a tour of the island in December. It was most beautiful then. In the summer it must be out of this world. The obvious history, the stamped kiln brick pathways, the hotels, the harbour.... Wow!
