I loved this museum! We took the free guided tour and it was well worth the trip! We learned so much about the culture, the state of New Mexico, and the first settlers. Very interesting and well worth the stop!

As first time visitors to New Mexico, this museum was a perfect introduction to the many native cultures, the Spanish settlers, & the eventual statehood of the state. We'd read Hampton Sides, Blood & Thunder, about the Navajo (Dine) & Kit Carson so this museum...More

I loved the architecture and the church attached to the left side of the building. The courtyard was beautiful as well. You just have to visit. Check ahead of time for special pricing for seniors.

The New Mexico History Museum is a newish, technologically up-to-date museum illustrating the successive periods of New Mexico history, and offers a visually stimulating look into what informs New Mexico today.

I saw no dogs. I would be very surprised if dogs were allowed in a Museum like this one. Our dogs were very comfortably tucked at home with a house/dog sitter in their own surrounding. They would not enjoy a museum.
