Ten Thousand Waves is inspired by the great Japanese mountain hot spring resorts. Ten minutes from downtown Santa Fe, but only minutes from the National Forest, there is nothing quite like this on the North American continent. Among piñons and junipers are beautiful outdoor hot tubs and spa suites, world-class bodywork & skin care, and the amazing izanami restaurant. For a lucky few, it is the closest lodging to the Santa Fe Ski area.

I believe that I must have moved from Washington, DC to Santa Fe, NM because of the opportunity to spend a few hours at Ten Thousand Waves as often as I like or can budget! In all seasons, all weather (usually perfect by any standards!),...More

This is truly a wonderful place! Our room was beautifully constructed, with many thoughtful details (wood burning stove, a game, chocolates, filtered water, a french press with coffee, granola, fruit). We got massages there, and I can't recommend their spa more. It was expensive, but...More

Ten Thousand Waves is a must for any trip to Santa Fe. The Japanese facial alone is worth a trip. Put your cell phones far away!

This Japanese style bath house located minutes from the city, is an exotic get-a-way from a hectic day or as an addition to your Santa Fe experience. I had a Master's 180 minute massage with a person named Gyana. I first thought he was not...More

This iconic Santa Fe institution is top-notch! The facilities are impeccable, the restaurant is excellent, the staff is eager, pleasant, and skillful. Perfect for very special occasions, though too expensive for regular visits.

Once upon a time, this place had tons of charm, tranquility and a telluric atmosphere. A place where many locals also enjoyed going for a treat in the great all wood sauna and jacuzzi, engaging in great conversation with great people... Recently, the owner made...More

35 years ago Ten Thousand Waves was a hippie hideout on the mountainside with a couple funky hot tubs and one massage room. We've grown up into, according to Travel + Leisure's readers' poll for 2015, the third ranked spa resort in the world. Our...More

There is just not enough words to describe the waves experience. It has gotten busier and busier over the years. I wish for SELFISH reasons, this were not the case. I always get amazing therapists and the whole place it TRULY enchanting!

I recommend the Ichiban Spa Suite to enjoy some private outdoor bathing...especially in colder climates. I had an organic Japanese facial that was excellent and my husband had a massage which was also great. The site is very clean and the treatments were great. The...More
