My first visit was an accident. I had lost the tail from a small purple Mexican wooden armadillo that I had purchased at the Smithsonian and asked if they possibly had extra tails. The wonderful guy opened a drawer with plastic bags full of wooden arms, legs, feet and TAILS. He found one that almost perfectly matched the size and... More

We have shopped here for years and always pick up a new piece when we are in town. Our favorites are northern NM folk carvings of pigs and birds. Great Mexican collection, too. Charming owners.

I was delighted upon entering the Davis Mather Folk Art Gallery during my stay in Santa Fe. I enjoyed chatting with the amiable and genuinely kind man working in the gallery, Todd. It didn't take long for a beautiful Oaxacan made leather wallet to catch my eye. I purchased the verdant, well made wallet from Todd and bid him adieu.... More

This shop has been selling handmade regional art for many years downtown. The same family has owned and managed the store for over 25 years.

This gallery has folk art from Mexico and New Mexico. The proprietors have a deep understanding and appreciation of the artists whose work they sell. The prices are good, especially considering that they are in Santa Fe, where things can be pretty pricey! Folk art is quirky stuff and may not appeal to everyone, but if you like folk art,... More

First place visited on arrival to Santa Fe thanks to photos from other Trip Advisors. Had to have a colorful Joe Ortega jackrabbit. and chicken. Lots to see, wall full of colorful snakes. Owners very pleasant & prompt in answering email queries. Best place I saw for folk art sculpture

This little gallery off the beaten path is full to the brim of Folk Art, both native and Oaxacan. I was on the look out for Navajo Chickens and they had a great collection. I have bought here previously and the owner is knowledgeable and pleasant and very willing to share information about the art and artists.

This is such a fun store with beautiful folk art items. I was especially interested in the oaxacan pieces but there were so many great items. He mentioned they go to Oaxaca to buy directly from the artists a couple of times a year and gave me info on a tour they lead. I also loved the penguins, rabbits and... More

My husband I return yearly to Santa Fe. our home has a Ortega Jack Rabbit carving collection. We purchased Josefina Aguillar clay folk art. And have even had items shipped by just a phone call from home in California. I have Christine Mather's books and refer to them frequently, as they contain my love of the Southwest and the folk...
