This is really just a viewpoint looking over downtown Sitka and the harbor. There are no ruins left. The view is pretty and it does not take long to see and there are signs explaining the history.

As we were walking through Sitka we found this place. It is a good spot to take photos and read some of the history of the area (from the panels posted there).

Sitka has a relaxing sidewalk stroll that leads to a playground, a coastal nature area to see wild eagles and totem park. This area was just steps from the ship , easy to walk to. There are holding trails at totem park. I enjoyed the town and shopping was not as crowded as other towns. The waterfalls were beautiful. There were also really cute churches with open doors.

Castle no longer exists but the stairs lead you to a lookout on the grounds where it used to be. You get pretty good views of the harbour and downtown Sitka, good photo opportunities. Lots of plaques around the top give you the history of the property.

It’s worth the walk up the stairs to see this historic site and the beautiful views of Sitka and surrounding areas. Take the time to read the information boards along the wall.

Nice view. Just a grassy knoll overlooking bay. A bit of history after an ABSURDLY LONG WALK UP RAMP or LOTSA STAIRS!!! Not really good for mobility challenged folks.

a young native boy, 10 years old - saw us trying to find the hidden entrance. he offered to chauffer / escort us up the hill and told us all about the site, what he is learning in school about Sitka history and was overall quite the young gentleman. Made our day! Thank you!!!

This location is an easy side-visit to view the town from up high. The climb was easy and wheelchair accessible with beautiful wildflowers along the way. We thought there would be more, given the name.

This was a nice climb up to the top, with informative placards all around. It doesn't take long and is something to do when things aren't open.

We walked from where the shuttles dropped us off. It is a short walk. Head towards the Cathedral, pass the Cathedral and the Pioneer house and you will see signs on the left that say where to go from there. There are some stairs that you have to climb to get there. Note there is no castle there now but the views are amazing. And the history of the US getting Alaska there is worth the climb

When does the castle open? I can't see a time on their website.
