We walked along the Marina trail to Sitka National Historic park. We first toured the ranger station, noting the totem poles and the history and explanations about them. There were two artists working: one a totem carver and the other a woman doing beautiful bead...More

Beyond amazing.definitely worth walking the trails. The history museum is amazing- take time to see the movie too. Park ranger was helpful. Also can set up a tour of the Bishops house which is worth a visit.

This is an amazing National Historic Park, really well done both inside and outside. The cell phone guided tour is a great way to learn about the Totem Poles. The views of the water, Mt. Edgecombe and forest are fantastic. The pathways are really easy...More

Some older examples of totem poles which are being preserved and some that are restored. It was a good place to stretch our legs, but I wish there had been more explanations for each of the poles and what they represented.

Enjoyed the exhibits on native culture and the walking trails were great - we enjoyed the one along the shore with the totems.

They have several poles on the grounds and they explain a lot of the history and significance of totem poles. It was a nice stop on our journey farther north.

This National Park is the cultural heart of Sitka and a must-see. I love to walk the quiet woods and enjoy the magnificent totem poles nestled in the towering spruce. The visitor center and ranger staff are also excellent.

Excellent walk through the ancient grounds of the Indians that roamed and lived in these areas a few hundred years ago. The grounds have many totem poles to depict their lives and history of the events that took place during those times. The area has...More

The Totem Pole Park is a very short distance from the center of town. You simply walk westward and it may be a 20 minute walk.

We flew into Sitka and self-directed our entire vacation, so I can't speak to what the cruise may offer. However, we walked to the park in the rain from our hotel and did the tour on our own. It is free and self-guided... More
