Probably the biggest challenge in terms of endurance and altitude in AZ. For me, the biggest negative are the number of rocks on the trail. Kendrick is more enjoyable in that respect.

This is a great trail for anyone because it's not extremely dangerous and you can turn back as soon as you feel you've reached your uphill limit. Do this hike early on summer or warm spring/fall days otherwise you will be really cold for the...More

We had a small group including a four year old so at times it was challenging but we took several breaks, drank plenty of water. The change in elevation definitely took some getting used to but it was well with it. As advised by other...More

I did this hike with a fairly large group a few days ago. It was my first time up the trail. It was challenging due to it's length (10 miles round trip), elevation gain (I think 3600 feet), and altitude at the top (12,620-ish feet)....More

It is completely worth the effort to bike / hike up these trails. Make sure you have enough water and supplies, as it can get toasty up there!

Five miles to the peak, but worth it. The views are spectacular. Trail condition is rocks and roots. Take your time, remember your going to 12,600 feet.

Be prepared for this 10 mile round trip as the weather on the top may not match the weather in the parking lot. The 3000+ ft elevation gain takes you up above the tree line and exposed to the elements for more than a mile,...More
