The Martin House Complex (Buffalo, NY, 1903-05) exemplifies Frank Lloyd Wright’s Prairie House ideal and ranks as one of his finest residential works. Designed for Larkin Soap Company executive, Darwin D. Martin, the complex is a one-of-a-kind composition consisting of the main Martin House, the smaller Barton House, a carriage house with chauffeur’s quarters and stables, a glass-roofed conservatory linked to the main house by a 100-foot pergola, and a gardener’s cottage integrated architectural masterwork. Tours explore the buildings, surrounding landscape, and an extensive collection of art glass and furnishings, all designed by Wright, which together form a totally integrated architectural masterwork. We welcome you to this National Historic Landmark.

A wonderful example Wright's and an excellent tour! Our visit included children and it was a great experience for them as well. The grounds were lovely and the welcome center too. If you are in the area, make it a priority to go!

Visited Graycliff for 1 hour then Martin House 2 hour, next day. Great docents each tour. Really invested in houses & their restorations. Better appreciation for the history.

This is a gorgeous example of Wright's prairie architecture and a must-see in Buffalo. There is an optional two-hour tour but the one hour seems sufficient. The tour starts with an excellent film giving a history of Wright and the Martin family. Our excellent volunteer docent, Kathy, presented an abundance of information and the restoration of the house-on the one... More

As a Buffalo native I've always seen the various Wright buildings but hadn't been until this tour. I remember prior to restoration and can say this is amazing. It is at once a trip back in time, an architectural masterpiece, and snapshot of an important period in our city's rich history. A must for FLW fans and students of architecture... More

I live in Buffalo and go to the Darwin Martin several times a year. This is a lovely space, lovingly preserved, It has been wonderful to see the rooms restored one by one. Can't wait for the return of the Wisteria fireplace decor. The art glass is my favorite part.

The Martin House art glass is wonderful! There are 394 art glass windows in the complex in 16 different patterns - 11 in the Martin House itself! Mr. Martin provided Mr. Wright with a wonderful opportunity to demonstrate his design talent. We look forward to your return visit to see the glass fireplace. More

An incredible example of restoration of a historic home designed by Frank Lloyd Wright. I try to get there once a year to see how the work is progressing.

Took the full tour of all of the Wright buildings. It was a long but interesting tour. I know a lot more about FLW that I needed to know but tour fun.

The loving restoration on this landmark is nearing completion. It is spectacular—the art glass and the conservatory are unique and awe inspiring. Many interior furnishings have been returned and add authenticity and ambiance. Don't miss Graycliff Mansion in Derby, NY: it's close by in Derby, NY, and is another FLW masterpiece in the early stages of restoration.

Beautiful property - 3 buildings and a conservatory - we took the 2 hour tour. The guide was very informative. It is still an ongoing project as far as the restorations are concerned but there is already so much to see. Cannot wait for the glass fireplace to be finished - will go back next year.
