The Martin House Complex (Buffalo, NY, 1903-05) exemplifies Frank Lloyd Wright’s Prairie House ideal and ranks as one of his finest residential works. Designed for Larkin Soap Company executive, Darwin D. Martin, the complex is a one-of-a-kind composition consisting of the main Martin House, the smaller Barton House, a carriage house with chauffeur’s quarters and stables, a glass-roofed conservatory linked to the main house by a 100-foot pergola, and a gardener’s cottage integrated architectural masterwork. Tours explore the buildings, surrounding landscape, and an extensive collection of art glass and furnishings, all designed by Wright, which together form a totally integrated architectural masterwork. We welcome you to this National Historic Landmark.

My first time to see a Frank Lloyd Wright property. The one hour tour was only one available when I was there. Our guide Wednesday afternoon at 3:00 was excellent, very friendly and full of knowledge.

You must take a docent tour to see the building interiors, but it's well worth the modest price. There is a one- and a two-hour tour. We took the two-hour tour. The docent's depth of knowledge, responsiveness to questions, and genuine pleasantness made the time...More

First let me say this tour is not handicapped friendly. You need to be able to stand for an hour. The tour is hands off, no leaning and no chairs. No pictures are allowed in the house and no beverages, not even a bottle of...More

After touring the Eastman house and then coming here it puts things into perspective of how advanced FLW's designs and vision were . If you are a fan of architecture or just like looking at homes this is the place for you .

The one-hour tour visits the first floor of the Martin House. There are seven stairs leading into the house and a lift for those unable to climb stairs. The restoration of the first floor is complete so there are no more... More
