Spectacular hike, especially in the fall. Worth continuing up to Silver Glance Lake for the view of Silver Lake below. For more pics visit my TA page and see hiking links in description. https://www.tripadvisor.com/Trips/92933170/Salt%20Lake%20City

This trail up to Silver Lake is rated moderate, and it doesn't disappoint. On the way up to the trail head the 4 mile dirt road is very bumpy and you have to drive 5 mph over bumpy roads, dips, rocks, pause for traffic coming the opposite direction in some spots, etc so be prepared for a 30+ minute ride up a 4 mile steep dirt road. Once at the trail head parking there is limited space so go early or you may have to park along the narrow dirt road and walk up to the trial head. There is a park fee so be prepared to pay in cash. The only outhouse is at the beginning of the trail, so use it before you head up. Once on the trail it is a steady constant climb up with a lot of rocks, some rock scrambles, switchbacks, and great views. You also cross two streams on the trail, one on logs and the other by stepping on rocks in the water. Once you reach the top of the trail the views of the lake are wonderful, people were camping around the lake, and there are many great places to rest and eat lunch. You can swim in the chilly lake if you want to. We circled the lake on a trail that faded away to a rock scramble on the far side. I loved running down the trail, so exhilarating and fun. There were all types of people on the trail, seniors, teens, young adults, young children with parents, some people carrying babies in backpacks, and people with dogs. If you take it slow, you can do it and it is worth it!

Without a lot of fanfare this hike is pleasantly doable in a half day. Once you reach the lake nestled in the white cliffs of twin peaks you have the serenity of the water with jumping fish, singing birds, lovely flowers, and the beauty of nature at its best. We took our lunch and ate on the shore. Be sure to take plenty of water especially if it is a clear day as you will be in full sun most of the time. We took our time spending about 5 hours but I’m sure the fast hiker could easily do it in 2.5. Some boulders to traverse, some water crossings, and some steep fall away areas along the trail. However, the serenity and beauty make this a must do hike.
