Nice place to enjoy some water surrounded by a beautiful mountain view. Fun for family time on the water in small kayaks. Places to walk along the lake area. Can be very busy in the summer months. Lovely place to go early evening and drive up on the road above it to see beautiful views. Note: The water can be over full or very low, depending on the time of year you visit.…

It's fun if you have a canoe, kayak, or paddle board. The sandy beach is at a steep slope and can be tricky to set up chairs. Once the sun goes behind the mountain, it gets a little chilly even in the summer. Overall, it's worth trying out on a weekday if you don't like crowds.

There are lakes in reservoirs that I prefer over Tibble Fork, but for only a 30 minute drive it is great. The entry is cheap - $6/weekend - and there are a lots of families.

If solitude is what you are looking for, go somewhere else. But this reservoir is great for families looking to get out of the summer heat. Take a paddle board, kayak or canoe to get on the water and away from the throngs of people on the shore. I recommend arriving before 10 am or coming after 3pm on weekends or holidays. There is plenty of space but parking can fill up. But we always find a spot. Fishing is great at both river inlets. Early season is a fish on with every cast using a Jake’s spinalure. Too many people swimming without life vests. This reservoir usually has a drowning or two each year. Swimming across it without protection is asking for disaster.…
