Beautiful walk along the sea

The walk hugs the cliffs with the ocean below and mansions above. It's definitely worth a walk on a nice day, or even a not so nice one.

Cliff Walk provides stunning views of the ocean and the many famous Newport mansions. It was among my favorite activities in the beautiful town of Newport. The hike has sections that are nicely paved with guardrails, which turn into rocky, unprotected sections in which some caution is necessary. I personally enjoyed the views of the rocky outcrops set amid the... More

Doing a Cliff walk is equivalent to killing multiple birds with one stone. First, you get to enjoy a long walk that is not hard on your body and can be completed by a person of any age. Don't want to walk the full way, absolutely fine. Second, Take a trip down the gilded age and enjoy the extravagance that... More

Approximately 7 miles round trip. Great views of the mansions on one side and the ocean on the other. Visitors should be prepared for some stretches of jagged rock if you intend to do the entire route. Much of this is flat paved sidewalk, though.

If you want to take in the best of Newport's rocky coastline, this is the place to do it. Try to pick a sunny, relatively warm day, and you will be nicely rewarded!

We did cliff walk on a busy Saturday (it was close to 50 degrees out). You have a constant view of the ocean. It's a beautiful walk with a nice breeze off the ocean, the mansions are gorgeous. You have to check this out if you are visiting Newport!

Done the cliff walk a couple times, today was a warmer February day and the views were just as spectacular. Dress warm even it's close to 50 as the winds are much cooler!

As someone who loves to walk and loves water, this was no disappointment. The only things you need to know about are - After a short/medium-length walk, there is a detour* I did not have time to take, which looked like a medium-length section to walk not alongside the water. Not sure if it or if the part of the... More

We did the Cliff walk probably 25 years ago and remember it as being more user friendly, and the mansions were easily seen from the walk. I'm guessing storms have changed the landscape. More of it is inaccessible than accessible. It is not plowed, so there is snow and ice even in the paved sections. Most of it was not... More
