If you are in Newport, visit St. Mary's, the oldest Catholic Church in the area. Like most old churches, it has stained glass windows and beautiful wooden pews with high sides and nice kneeling benches.

Went to mass on Sunday. The service was great and the church itself was beautiful. Plus, so glad got to see where Jackie O and JFK got hitched.

Not much to look at from out side but beautiful and well kept on inside. We often go to mass here. But I do not find the pews comfortable.

Old architecture, the atmosphere of an old Cathedral ... you can almost see Jackie and JFK coming up the aisle ... all those years ago ...

We were surprised when we read the plaque to find it was where JFK and Jackie were married. For that alone it's worth a look!

Not redeeming in its beauty even though Jack and Jackie got married here. 1300 people attended the wedding.

We loved going to Mass at this church. It is within walking distance of the main street of Newport. It claim to fame is that it was the site of the marriage of President Kennedy. There was a neat picture with history of the event. It took hours to shake hands with all of the guests at the reception nearby.... More

Enjoyed looking inside and outside of this historical church. Find it interesting that President Kennedy was married here.

What a beautiful church. It is very welcoming. Full of history. We attended mass and felt very welcome. The father welcomed us and spoke with us after the mass. Photos are welcome (not during mass of course) but before and after.
