Went on a Sunday afternoon and felt like we almost had the place to ourselves. Plenty of exhibits, a children's playground and friendly staff interacted with us. Be sun and heat safe. A few exhibits were closed due to upgrades/programs for the animal's benefit. Maps...More

The Zoo is within walking distance from any hotel in Waikiki, you could take the bus/taxi if you needed. Try to get there early, 9am open as it is cooler and more animals are visible than later in the day!! Great place for the kids,...More

Very enjoyable although 3 of the exhibits were closed due to upgrades, which was unfortunate. A good way to spend a couple of hours. Was the KIng's private collection until it became to big.

Make sure to see the Gibbons! They put on quite a show that you can hear all across the zoo. The older one starts with just a few puffs and then all craziness breaks loose! They all sing and holler and swing from the ropes....More

Not sure if we went at the wrong time (around 10 am) but we hardly saw any animals, which was very disappointing.

The Honolulu Zoo is a nice attraction in the corner of Waikiki and offers an inexpensive options for kids to enjoy the day. It's not that big and is a bit dated but still not a bad place to spend some time.

Sorry, we walked. Our room overlooked zoo so I can offer that parking lot was nearly empty in the morning, but very full the rest of the day. I noticed that some people were parking there and heading to beach. The zoo is... More
