I have been to many museums all over the world and was pleasantly surprised with the wonderful collection displayed in this small and charming museum. The core is Asian art, with a wonderful display of Japanese and Chinese beautiful pieces dating back several centuries. There...More

Met here to take the shuttle to the Doris Duke house, and didn't expect to find this small museum as interesting as I did! In the end, I found this building, its architecture, layout and well-chosen pieces of art to be just as interesting as...More

Visit the Honolulu Museum of Art with an open mind and you'll leave suitably impressed. The museum is beautifully laid out, with small open spaces filled with lush green grass to relax and wander around in. As for the art, you'll find works by Monet,...More

This was an amazing surprise. I lived on the island for many years and never went (due to work hours). Finally made it and its one of the best museums I have been to in the world. Small, exclusive, refined and the building itself was...More

A beautiful place to visit if you are interested in art or even architecture. Lovely cafe. Many famous painters represented. I was excited to see a Monet water lily painting. Other impressionist artists include Gauguin, Picasso,Bonnard,Pissarro.

Excellent visit to the museum of art. Loved the buddha collection and some great art work. Wasn't keen on the room full of what looked like exercise paper coloured in by infants that passed as modern art but rest was top class. Liked the courtyards...More

If you have any interest in art, don't miss this museum. The building itself is very attractive. Excellent collection of both contemporary and ancient art. Their Indonesian and Indian collections are very good. Nice museum shop, too.

What's the estimated time to complete this museum? I have a downtime between two activities with my husband and I would really like to stop by. Is it a small venue?

This museum is not small about 15 collection rooms and courtyards. There are always exhibishion as well. But depending on your schedule, 1 hour or 2 hours will be walking through all collection rooms.
It's unclear where I should park. Also, I want to stay for ArtafterDark and wonder if I have to move my car or can I keep it parked from early afternoon up until 9:00 pm?

I concur with the other two respondents, but would also add that there is paid parking at the Blaisdell Center across Thomas Square and metered parking adjacent to the museum and Linekona Center.

I was going to visit this museum for a couple hours right after I land in Honolulu, before I can check in at my hotel. Will I be able to check in a rather large travel luggage at the museum? Will it be safe?

There's an office just behind the admissions desk where people leave packs and suitcases. The staff is very helpful.
