I lived on the island for two years. It was only in my remaining days on the island that I ended up hiking Koko. It is physically demanding, but oh so rewarding when you get to the top.

There is no entry or parking fee for the park! Depending on how fit you are, I'm unfit and it took me almost 1-2 hours with a lot of stopping and drinking lots of water!! The website says that Koko head opens sunrise... More

I agree - you can do it solo (as long as it is a day with plenty of others doing the trail) and make sure you take water with you
