The shuttle bus briefly stops by this memorial and it deserves much more time than that. When you are done at the USS Missouri take a moment and walk over the memorial to see if up close.

Much history to take in on your walk through the Memorial. Simply amazing what happened and how the US recovered to take such an active role in the second world war.

Situated just outside the entrance to the USS Missouri, this is a memorial that is oft overlooked. It is designed to look like a battleship, with the black marble forming the bow area. The Oklahoma was moored in the same area as the Missouri is now tied up at. There were 429 Sailors/Marines lost onboard the Oklahoma.

It is located next to the entrance to the USS Missouri of ford Island. Unless you have some personal attachment it would not warrant a special trip, but it's location you will walk right by it going to the Missouri. Unless you have Military ID you need to ride the shuttle buses from the Arizona Memorial. If you have proper... More

While you stand there and reccount the vast number of lives lost you marvel at the tastefulness of the Memorial. Available only by bus tour it is well worth the stop.

Most people think of the Arizona when they think of Dec 7, 1941 and rightfully so. This exhibit reminds them that there were other ships and other men who lost their lives during the attack as well. Very solemn place. I felt humbled and blessed while viewing the memorial.

It is almost on top of where the USS Missouri is moored, and should really be seen. It is low key and understated, but meant to evoke the image of sailors all in white "manning the rails."

As always the American's treat their defence force with the utmost respect. One feels very humble when walking around the vast vessel.
